Ben was born and bred in London. He studied English and Drama at London University and Central School of Speech and Drama, and trained at Guildford School of Acting.

He was Associate Director on ATG/Donmar’s award-winning Guys and Dolls at the Piccadilly Theatre. Resident Director on the national tour of Trevor Nunn’s award-winning production of My Fair Lady. Assistant Director to Howard Davies on David Hare’s The Breath of Life at The Haymarket with Judi Dench and Maggie Smith. Assistant Director to Robert Strura on The Seagull, Thelma Holt’s national tour with Kate Beckinsale and Michael Sheene. and Eddie Marsan on Lonely Lives (Time Out Critic’s Choice at The Union Theatre and BAC). Mentored by Mike Leigh on his production of Smelling A Rat.

He has directed over 40 productions including the critically acclaimed A Man of No Importance which transferred to The Arts Theatre, Confusions and Absent Friends. Cabaret, Wild Party and Pippin with Sasha Regan. The Constant Couple (Derry), Playboy of the Western World (BSA), A Chorus Line (Jellicoe Theatre) Rocketman (Pleasance and Union), Tales from a Pier, The Eight Foot Leap, Push (Time Out Critic’s Choice), Love on the First Floor, The Zoo Story (at The Union Theatre) and Anniversary Sweet (Finborough) all for Slipstream Productions. The Windmill (Bluebird Productions), Pinter’s Family Voices (The King’s Head) as well as seven short plays for The Union of Shorts Festival including A Family Man, Out There, Gaugleprixtown, and most recently Taking The Piss all for The Union Theatre. Loudmouth (Space, Hampstead Theatre), A Kind of Alaska and Les Liasons Dangereuse at Central. Ben is founder member of Slipstream Productions winners of The Peter Brook Empty Space, Mark Marvin Award in November 2003 along with the Union Theatre. He’s also a member of the Magic Circle.
